Standing with Ricardo: kidney cancer treatment costs
Ricardo is facing kidney cancer and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.

Ricardo was diagnosed with kidney cancer in August. The oncology team at Tampa Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Ricardo is 57, worked as a farmer until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Tampa Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $13,200 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $8,250
• Scans and lab work: $1,300
• Transport to Tampa Cancer Centre: $930
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $740
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,980
