Christina was diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer in June. The oncology team at the Berlin Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in September. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Christina is 53, worked as a primary school teacher until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Berlin Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $8,200 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $1,850 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,250 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $330 • Transport to the Berlin Oncology Institute: $770 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
