Standing with Chiamaka: Hodgkin lymphoma treatment costs
Chiamaka is facing Hodgkin lymphoma and the cost of treatment, travel and care at home is far beyond what the family can cover.
🇳🇬 Nigeria301 views
Chiamaka was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August. The oncology team at Nnewi Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 5 weeks.
Chiamaka is 37, worked as a primary school teacher until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Nnewi Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $95
• Household costs while unable to work: $280
• Scans and lab work: $140
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $885
If you're reading this, thank you.
