A free library and reading room: a volunteer-led effort in Amiens
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $700 for materials.
🇫🇷 France2,039 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 456 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $700 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $230
• Safety equipment and signage: $155
• Tools hire and delivery: $315
Thanks for reading all this.

Thinking of you and your family. Hope this works out for you. Love from Kinondoni
Sending good thoughts. Shared this with my family. God bless
Hope things get better soon, Hugo. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Boulogne-Billancourt!
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Hugo.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. permits and inspections comes first ($230) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.
Keep going, Hugo. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Kinondoni
sending good thoughts, Hugo. Your post was clear and honest. After 24 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from İzmir.
So sorry you're going through this. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. All the best.
Praying for you, Hugo. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier.
Hope things get better soon, Hugo. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out.

Good luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. It's not much but it's yours. Blessings
