Standing with Brooklyn: stage 2 breast cancer treatment costs
Supporting Brooklyn through stage 2 breast cancer: medication, transport to the Ottawa Oncology Institute, and living costs while She cannot work.
🇨🇦 Canada212 views
In June I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. My oncology team at the Ottawa Oncology Institute has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in September. I was told to expect about 10 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 29, I worked as a construction supervisor until June, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Ottawa Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $9,400 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,500
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,600
• Transport to the Ottawa Oncology Institute: $670
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $630
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Gave what I could, wish it was more. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home!
Best of luck. Get well soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care.
Thanks for sharing this, Brooklyn. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes.
Sending love, Brooklyn. This could happen to any of us. Love from Dnipro.
Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I hope October is when things finally get easier
Hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. It's not much but it's yours. Love from Lalitpur.
Rooting for you, Brooklyn. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did.
Wishing you peace. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Thinking of Ottawa!
