Shafiq was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in November. The oncology team at the Narayanganj Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in March. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Shafiq is 32, worked as a bank teller until November, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Narayanganj Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,300 goes: โ€ข Scans and lab work: $130 โ€ข Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $910 โ€ข Household costs while unable to work: $260 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
