In May I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. My oncology team at the Zaporizhzhia Oncology Institute has planned 8 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in July. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work.
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 57, I worked as a bakery worker until May, and I have been the main earner for my household.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to the Zaporizhzhia Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly.
My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $700 goes:
• Transport to the Zaporizhzhia Oncology Institute: $150
• Household costs while unable to work: $220
• Scans and lab work: $330
