When the hotel closed in August, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $3,050. My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave. I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. I have started working night deliveries, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $3,050 goes: • Rent arrears (2 months): $2,100 • Late fees and court costs: $240 • Utilities in arrears: $125 • First month of rent as a buffer: $585 Thank you for reading my story. - Rima

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Rima.

            • Rima Farah NasserOwnerAnswer

Sure. The biggest one is rent arrears (2 months), $2,100. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.

Hope it all works out. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 6 years in public service I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Thinking of Rotterdam.
