Restoring Unity Creek: a volunteer-led project in San Antonio
A neighborhood-led restoration of Unity Creek needs $3,300 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world4,686 views
Unity Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 99 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 110 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $3,300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,450
• Tools and protective gear: $710
• Waste removal and skip hire: $810
• Signage and educational materials: $330
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Wishing you peace. Hope this works out for you. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near San Antonio!
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I hope September is when things finally get easier!
Wishing you the best, Gregory. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Fort Worth donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
