Restoring Union Beach: a volunteer-led project in Epe
A neighborhood-led restoration of Union Beach needs $250 for saplings and equipment.
Anywhere in the world1,136 views
Union Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This February, 62 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 121 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $250 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $150
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $30
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Lucky.
Sure. The biggest one is native saplings and stakes, $150. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Appreciate you taking the time.
Wishing you peace, Lucky. Looking forward to the next update. God bless.
Thinking of you, Lucky. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Blessings.
