Restoring the Pioneer riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Durgapur
Help us clean and replant the Pioneer riverbank before the December planting window closes.
Anywhere in the world1,042 views
The Pioneer riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 47 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 172 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $200 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $60
• Signage and educational materials: $30
• Waste removal and skip hire: $110
Glad we found this place.

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Durgapur!
Thank you. If you're in Durgapur I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Ask me anything else.
Best of luck, Ishita. Looking forward to the next update. Greetings from Jeddah.
