Restoring the Lotus riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Cầu Giấy
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Lotus riverbank needs $200 for saplings and equipment.
🇻🇳 Vietnam1,669 views
The Lotus riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 117 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 130 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $200 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $70
• Waste removal and skip hire: $70
• Signage and educational materials: $60
Thanks for being kind about this.

You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. My neighbor in Fresno donated after I showed her your page.
Best of luck, Long. It takes guts to ask. Well done. All the best
Wishing you peace. This could happen to any of us. I hope March is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Cầu Giấy.
Wishing you the best, Long. Looking forward to the next update. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Cầu Giấy
