Restoring the Jacaranda riverbank: a volunteer-led project in St. Petersburg
Volunteers are restoring the Jacaranda riverbank in St. Petersburg; $2,350 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.

The Jacaranda riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 116 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 130 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,150
• Tools and protective gear: $400
• Waste removal and skip hire: $690
• Signage and educational materials: $110

Hope things get better soon, Harper. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did
So sorry you're going through this, Harper. Hope this works out for you. I'll check back for the next update. God bless
Sending strength. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. It's not much but it's yours. Greetings from Cambridge.
Keep going. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of St. Petersburg.
