Restoring the Harmony riverbank: a volunteer-led project in Tema
Volunteers are restoring the Harmony riverbank in Tema; $300 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
Anywhere in the world677 views
The Harmony riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 110 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 197 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $55
• Native saplings and stakes: $210
• Signage and educational materials: $35
If you're reading this, thank you.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Dennis!
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. waste removal and skip hire comes first ($55) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks, that means a lot.
Shared it with a few friends. I have a 11 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best
