Restoring Lotus Beach: a volunteer-led project in Sacramento
Help us clean and replant Lotus Beach before the April planting window closes.
🇺🇸 Sacramento, California, United States1,019 views
Lotus Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 49 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 92 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $560
• Signage and educational materials: $145
• Waste removal and skip hire: $545
Every share and every dollar helps.

You're not alone. Looking forward to the next update. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Machakos
Thinking of you and your family, Teresa. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Take care.
Hope it all works out, Teresa. More neighborhoods should do this. Wish I lived closer to Rajshahi so I could bring a meal!
