Restoring Cedar Creek: a volunteer-led project in Eugene
Volunteers are restoring Cedar Creek in Eugene; $1,450 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇺🇸 Oregon, United States1,250 views
Cedar Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 117 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 107 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $95
• Native saplings and stakes: $940
• Tools and protective gear: $415
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Best of luck. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless
Wishing you peace, Thomas. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 22 people at work. Thinking of Eugene.

Sending love, Thomas. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
