Rachel needs a lift to the Johannesburg Kidney Centre - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to the Johannesburg Kidney Centre would keep Rachel on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Rachel has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to the Johannesburg Kidney Centre alone. After an eyesight problem, Rachel can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 12 km each way. Rachel is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

            • Hope things get better soon. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Johannesburg.
