Plant 921 native trees around Unity Creek in Cologne
Volunteers are restoring Unity Creek in Cologne; $1,950 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇩🇪 Germany476 views
Unity Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 104 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 45 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,950 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $185
• Tools and protective gear: $290
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,475
Glad we found this place.

how is Günter doing now?
stay strong. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. God bless.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Günter
It's all in the list in the story. signage and educational materials is the big one at $185, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Appreciate you taking the time.
Sending love. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Columbus.
Gave what I could, wish it was more. Please keep us posted!
