Plant 817 native trees around Freedom Creek in Milan
A neighborhood-led restoration of Freedom Creek needs $900 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇹 Lombardy, Italy664 views
Freedom Creek has been used as an informal dump for years. This March, 67 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 56 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $900 goes:
• Signage and educational materials: $140
• Waste removal and skip hire: $480
• Tools and protective gear: $280
Thanks for reading all this.

Sending love, Alessandro. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Milan
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Alessandro!
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. signage and educational materials comes first ($140) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Good question.
Hope it all works out, Alessandro. More neighborhoods should do this. Take care
best of luck, Alessandro. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
stay strong. Hope this works out for you. After 6 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
Take care. More neighborhoods should do this. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too!
