Plant 4,050 native trees around the Maple riverbank in New Delhi
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Maple riverbank needs $200 for saplings and equipment.
🇮🇳 New Delhi, Delhi, India451 views
The Maple riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 103 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 41 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $200 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $130
• Signage and educational materials: $20
• Tools and protective gear: $50
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Keep going. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Istanbul.
Wishing you the best. This could happen to any of us. Love from Howrah
Hope things get better soon, Mukesh. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in.
