Plant 2,900 native trees around Cedar Beach in Aswan
Volunteers are restoring Cedar Beach in Aswan; $200 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇪🇬 Egypt602 views
Cedar Beach has been used as an informal dump for years. This June, 32 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 105 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $200 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $95
• Tools and protective gear: $65
• Signage and educational materials: $40
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Nadia
Sure. The biggest one is native saplings and stakes, $95. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Ask me anything else.
Praying for you. More neighborhoods should do this. I went through something like this 10 years ago and strangers helped me out. Take care.
Rooting for you, Nadia. This could happen to any of us. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Aswan
Wishing you the best. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care.
