Plant 2,750 native trees around the Harmony canal in Chicago
Help us clean and replant the Harmony canal before the October planting window closes.

The Harmony canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 87 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 47 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,350 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,650
• Waste removal and skip hire: $470
• Signage and educational materials: $230

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Wayne
Native saplings and stakes is $1,650 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
