Plant 1,050 native trees around the Lotus wetland in London
Help us clean and replant the Lotus wetland before the June planting window closes.
🇬🇧 SE16 7RJ, London, England, United Kingdom2,341 views
The Lotus wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This April, 59 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 135 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the municipal water board, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,300 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $510
• Tools and protective gear: $220
• Waste removal and skip hire: $440
• Signage and educational materials: $130

You're not alone, Adrian. Looking forward to the next update. Put this on a community board in Lagos this morning.
Hope things get better soon. This could happen to any of us. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Love from Mumbai
Wishing you peace. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. It's not much but it's yours.
Hope it all works out, Adrian. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from Lalitpur.
Hang in there, Adrian. Shared this with my family. I went through something like this 13 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless
