Wekesa was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in August. The surgeon at Kampala Community Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $145, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $100 short. my son has been in and out of Kampala Community Hospital since August. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $145 is more than we can find. While we wait, Wekesa struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Wekesa won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $100 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $45 • Travel and lodging for the family: $20 • Post-operative medication: $35 Thank you so much.

    • Thanks for sharing this. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
