Pioneer Park needs a sensory garden for children with autism - Aaron's neighborhood project
A community-led a sensory garden for children with autism at Pioneer Park that will serve 407 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,100, and the remaining cost is $2,400.
It will serve about 407 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,400 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $120
• Materials: $2,000
• Tools hire and delivery: $280
