Help Kaori keep the Neighbors' Pantry pantry stocked
The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Tokyo is running low just as demand rises; $1,400 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 26 families, and now we feed 65 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 35% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Tokyo market and keep every receipt.
Each $35 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $490
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $420
• Baby formula and diapers: $370
• Refrigeration and electricity: $120

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kaori.
Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is $490 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Let me know if you want more detail.
