Ouma is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a degree in social work at Kasarani Community College, and is one semester away from graduating. He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $900. The registrar has said Ouma can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Ouma has a 3.8 average, and a department head has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Ouma would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
