One semester away: help Kiptoo graduate from Dar es Salaam University
A first-generation student, Kiptoo needs help covering tuition for the final stretch of a degree in social work.

I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a degree in social work at Dar es Salaam University, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a tutor to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $400.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.8 average, and my department head has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $400 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $140
• Final term tuition: $200
• Exam and lab fees: $30
• Textbooks and materials: $30
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kiptoo.
It's all in the list in the story. outstanding tuition balance is the big one at $140, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Happy to explain more.
Sending good thoughts, Kiptoo. This could happen to any of us. Put this on a community board in Laredo this morning. All the best.
Best of luck. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. My neighbor in Surat donated after I showed her your page. Blessings.
Rooting for you, Kiptoo. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Take care.
you're not alone. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Blessings.
