Brenda is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a nursing degree at the Houston Institute of Technology, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,700.
The registrar has said Brenda can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Brenda has a 3.8 average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Brenda would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Brenda isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the the Houston Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $5,700 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $1,700
• Final term tuition: $3,600
• Exam and lab fees: $290
• Textbooks and materials: $110
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Hope it all works out, Brooks. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 18 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Best of luck, Brooks. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors. Blessings
Sending good thoughts, Brooks. Your post was clear and honest.
