I live with a rare neuromuscular condition. My occupational therapist at the Nashik Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $950.
My current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $950 goes:
• First-year servicing plan: $40
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $830
• Fitting and training sessions: $80
