Như was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in March. The surgeon at Albany Community Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,000, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $4,750 short. my mother has been in and out of Albany Community Hospital since March. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Như struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Như won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $4,750 goes: • Hospital stay (2 nights): $1,650 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $340 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,250 • Physiotherapy sessions: $510 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
