My pickup: Brooklyn's only way to earn a living

Without my pickup Brooklyn can't work; a $2,150 repair would put her back on the road.

I make my living with my pickup. 7 weeks ago the radiator and cooling system failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $2,150. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my family of five. Before the breakdown I worked nine hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next six months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. I'll pay the mechanic directly and show you the repaired vehicle in an update. Where the $2,150 goes: • radiator and cooling system replacement (parts): $1,650 • Labor charges: $270 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $155 • Towing and inspection: $75 If you're reading this, thank you. - Brooklyn

Updates from Brooklyn

  1. 31% there. I made the first payment toward road tax and insurance renewal. Thank you.

  2. 16% there. the plan for road tax and insurance renewal is now scheduled. Thank you.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($61 in total) I made the first payment toward labor charges. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  • So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Düsseldorf donated after I showed her your page. Thinking of Ann Arbor.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Brooklyn.
