The landslide hit the Greenfield neighborhood on 4 July. My home was one of 72 damaged, and 11 families are still in temporary shelter at a borrowed warehouse. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates. Where the $700 goes: • Clean water and purification supplies: $55 • Food parcels for displaced families: $290 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $175 • Tools and labor for repairs: $180 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Pratik

  • Good luck, Pratik. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Paarl!

    • You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. Take care.

      • So sorry you're going through this. Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Kisumu so I could bring a meal. Take care
