Mobility fund: stair-climbing aid for Santiago in Tampa
A stair-climbing aid would give Santiago independence - we're $8,100 away.
🇺🇸 United States663 views
Santiago lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at the Tampa Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $8,100.
His current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment Santiago could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $8,100 goes:
• stair-climbing aid: $7,250
• Fitting and training sessions: $250
• Delivery and set-up: $240
• First-year servicing plan: $360
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Thinking of you, Amparo. Hope the doctors have good news. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Blessings.
Wishing you peace, Amparo. Wishing Santiago a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Fayetteville
Thinking of you, Amparo. Hope this works out for you. Love from Gold Coast!
Sending strength. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Hamilton this morning. God bless
