Sacramento
I live with a spinal cord injury. My occupational therapist at the Sacramento Rehabilitation Centre has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $3,350. My current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks. With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $3,350 goes: • Delivery and set-up: $65 • powered wheelchair: $3,100 • Fitting and training sessions: $185 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
