Mobility fund: powered wheelchair for Chebet in Mombasa
Chebet needs a powered wheelchair that the health system won't fund; the cost is $700.
🇰🇪 Mombasa, Mombasa, KenyaPosted Oct 1, 20261,677 views
Chebet lives with a spinal cord injury. The occupational therapist at the Mombasa Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $700.
Her current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 10 weeks.
With the right equipment Chebet could speak with the people around her. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $700 goes:
• powered wheelchair: $540
• Fitting and training sessions: $65
• Delivery and set-up: $20
• First-year servicing plan: $75
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
