Aurora
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Sunday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 21 families, and now we feed 156 each week. Donations have dropped by about 53% this summer, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Aurora market and keep every receipt. Each $50 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $3,150 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,250 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $830 • Baby formula and diapers: $700 • Refrigeration and electricity: $370 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  1. Thank you all. We're at 39% now ($1,239). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for fresh vegetables and fruit is now scheduled.

  2. Quick update: $804 raised so far (26%). I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Danielle.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($1,250) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Appreciate you taking the time.
