Mobility fund: pair of hearing aids for Tammy in Oakland
A pair of hearing aids would give Tammy independence - we're $7,200 away.
🇺🇸 Oakland, California, United StatesPosted Oct 1, 20261,291 views
Tammy lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Oakland Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $7,200.
Her current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment Tammy could speak with the people around her. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $7,200 goes:
• pair of hearing aids: $6,500
• Fitting and training sessions: $330
• Delivery and set-up: $125
• First-year servicing plan: $245

What's already covered and what's the $7,200 for?
Sure. The biggest one is pair of hearing aids, $6,500. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Fair thing to want to know.
Shared this with my family. I hope November is when things finally get easier.
take care, Tyler. I hope things turn around soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
