Megan needs a lift to the Baton Rouge Dialysis Unit - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to the Baton Rouge Dialysis Unit would keep Megan on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Megan has been on dialysis for 4 years and until recently drove to the Baton Rouge Dialysis Unit alone. After a foot amputation, Megan can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 18 km each way. Megan is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Thank you for reading my story.

  • I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I hope November is when things finally get easier. All the best.

    • Good luck. Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Baton Rouge

      • Hope you get there. Sent it to 39 people at work. Love from Peoria.

        • Thinking of you and your family, Kendall. This could happen to any of us. We're a small family in Palermo but we're thinking of you. Take care
