Marites is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying an accounting degree at Manila Community College, and is one semester away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,000. The registrar has said Marites can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Marites has a 3.8 average, and an academic advisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Marites would lose her place and scholarship eligibility. Marites isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Manila Community College bursar's office.
