Márcia was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in August. The oncology team at Porto Alegre Regional Medical Center has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 6 weeks. Márcia is 28, worked as a nurse until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Porto Alegre Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $2,900 goes: • Scans and lab work: $195 • Transport to Porto Alegre Regional Medical Center: $180 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,525 I hope life is good to you.

  • Hope it all works out, João. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Take care.

    • Keep going, João. Shared this with my family. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best!
