Mackenzie needs a lift to Columbia General Hospital - can you help one day a week?

Could you drive Mackenzie to Columbia General Hospital on Sunday? A rota of 6 drivers is forming.

Mackenzie has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to Columbia General Hospital alone. After a minor stroke, Mackenzie can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 30 km each way. Mackenzie is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Hope the doctors have good news. I hope July is when things finally get easier.

    • Hang in there, Lawrence. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.

      • Thinking of you and your family, Lawrence. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry
