Machakos fire in the settlement relief - the Harbor neighborhood
Neighbors in the Harbor neighborhood are rebuilding after the fire in the settlement; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The fire in the settlement hit the Harbor neighborhood on 1 September. My home was one of 80 damaged, and 5 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $340
• Tools and labor for repairs: $350
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $220
• Clean water and purification supplies: $140
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Thinking of you and your family, Anyango. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. After 23 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything
