Lily was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in February. The surgeon at Auckland Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $13,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $6,800 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Auckland Regional Medical Center since February. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $13,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lily struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Lily won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.

What exactly is the $6,800 for?
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. surgeon and anesthesia fees is the biggest at $3,350. Good question.
