Liberty Park needs a free library and reading room - Ishita's neighborhood project
A community-led a free library and reading room at Liberty Park that will serve 364 neighbors.
🇮🇳 Mumbai, Maharashtra, India666 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Liberty Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $400.
It will serve about 364 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $400 goes:
• Materials: $240
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $90

Hope it all works out. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Take care.
