I live with a spinal cord injury. My occupational therapist at the Duque de Caxias Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,700. My current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $1,700 goes: • stair-climbing aid: $1,500 • Fitting and training sessions: $90 • Delivery and set-up: $45 • First-year servicing plan: $65 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
