Durgapur

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $105, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 354 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $450 goes: • Materials: $320 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Tools hire and delivery: $80 Thank you so much. - Aarav

Updates from Aarav

Good news. Because of your gifts ($263 in total) the plan for tools hire and delivery is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Small update. $161 so far, I made the first payment toward tools hire and delivery.

Thinking of you and your family, Aarav. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
