Let's build a skate park together in Birmingham
A community-led a skate park at Baobab Primary School that will serve 485 neighbors.
🇬🇧 Birmingham, England, United Kingdom2,405 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a skate park. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Baobab Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $290, and the remaining cost is $2,500.
It will serve about 485 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,500 goes:
• Materials: $1,550
• Permits and inspections: $360
• Safety equipment and signage: $320
• Tools hire and delivery: $270
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
