Let's build a rainwater harvesting system together in Tampa
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the old Union bus depot that will serve 416 neighbors.
🇺🇸 Tampa, Florida, United States5,432 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Union bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,250.
It will serve about 416 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,250 goes:
• Materials: $2,150
• Permits and inspections: $250
• Safety equipment and signage: $350
• Tools hire and delivery: $500
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Stay strong, Weston. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My husband and I read this together.
Hope it all works out, Weston. This could happen to any of us. Take care.
Keep going, Weston. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
