Shyam was diagnosed with cervical cancer in September. The oncology team at the Bhaktapur Oncology Institute has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in December. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Shyam is 50, worked as a taxi driver until September, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Bhaktapur Oncology Institute 2 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $700 goes: • Scans and lab work: $170 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $450 • Transport to the Bhaktapur Oncology Institute: $80 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
